Expedia’s Global Customer Operations (GCO) Technology team is dedicated to driving technology innovation to create effortless customer experiences worldwide in Expedia apps, web sites, support channels, and contact centers. We support over 12 thousand agents and over 65 million customer interactions a year – with a global brand portfolio and workforce. GCO's Data and Customer Interactions team is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Software Engineer in Test I with experiences and skill sets that demonstrate a capability for delivering high quality, customer-facing solutions that meet product needs. Our team is building out intelligent self-service experiences in areas encompassing desktop and mobile web, phone systems, messaging platforms, digital assistants, and beyond. With your passion, technical skills, break-it mentality, and effective communication, you will implement and affect solutions that drive customer effort down and improve customer service at Expedia.
What you’ll do
Design and implement robust, scalable, and high quality test automation suites, to improve quality and productivity of functional and regression tests
Collaborate and work effectively with TPMs, engineers of different technical backgrounds, architects and product managers to design and implement test strategies and
Able to be a fully contributing engineer including development of well thought out and thoroughly tested code and deployment of feature items
Advocate and champion quality coding, best practices and lead test reviews,
Actively participate in requirement clarification and code review to ensure quality early on
Write, execute, and debug automated test cases, troubleshoot and debug complex systems
Identify opportunities for process, tools and test methodology improvements and drive those from concept to implementation
Understanding of Agile development, test methodologies – BDD, FDD, TDD
Test and maintain a high quality bar in a complex and constantly evolving environment
Contribute to continuing process improvement of quality assurance standards and procedures
Excel in communicating with teammates clearly and consistently
Cross organisational boundaries to collaborate with other technology teams to solve integrated problems
Who you are
3+ years software development and testing experience in enterprise quality software with 2+ years of experience in Big Data space and must have solved big data problems using Techs like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka etc.
BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Should be well versed with SQL
Demonstrated self-discipline, dependability and accountability
Experience in agile software development processes and working successfully in a team
Excellent communication and organisational skills - should be able to bring forward a vision or opinion
Ability to quickly and effectively research technical problems and solutions online
Interest in learning and tackling increasingly complex tasks
Willingness to work flexible / odd hours at times, based on a geographically distributed team
Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and services
Experience working with relational and Nosql databases
Scripting ability in Python or similar language
Linux and Windows Server knowledge
