Our client specializes in pumping solutions, services for rotating equipment, and separation, mixing, and application technology.
Reporting To: Head ORE (Engineered or Pre-Engineered)/ Managing Director
Job Location: Mumbai
Management of assigned mechanical, packaging and C&I design projects and the allocated team through the design stage to handover to production, observing the need to apply cost effective solutions and ensuring costs are controlled within estimates provided at the tendering stage. Supporting the Advance Engineering function and Operations through to Test is also a requirement of the role. Strong support for global standardization projects and a focus to drive efficiency improvements within ORE.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Instruct, direct, motivate, supervise and monitor the performance of all members of the allocated team.
Management of all design, processing and supporting activities for the assigned product range, including, where appropriate, pre-sales support and arranging specialist support assistance when required.
Management of departmental budgets and KPI s.
Reduction, where possible, of operating costs, improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
Attend kick off, client and works review meetings to ensure that all parties have an understanding of the work to be undertaken and the key project milestones as appropriate.
Liaison with Advanced Procurement to ensure that requirements are understood and ordered in a timely manner.
Liaisons with Resource Planning to ensure forward planning requirements are met.
Ensure that all relevant information within the assigned product range is available to the team.
Control the preparation and issue schedules and specifications, of calculations, drawings, requisitions and SAP BOM s to satisfy design, manufacture and customer requirements.
Oversee the specification and ordering of factored equipment e.g. filters, valves, motors etc.
Oversee the certification of all drawings and technical data (including vendor drawings and data) issued to the customer.
Supporting other departments for engineering problems associated with the product range manufactured in Portland.
Support the Engineering Competence Center ECC and Best Cost Engineering BCE concept.
Provide appropriate support to other Eng/PreEng Family of Factory locations and specifically the other ORE Teams within the family.
Conduct monthly review of all non-conformance reports to identify trends and problems associated with the specified product range. Complete appropriate RCFA s in line with Global Technology & Energy requirements and issue close-out reports in the 8D format.
Drive bi-monthly Engineering Walkabouts with ORE staff.
Oversee the introduction of specific instructions into departmental guidelines.
Oversee the introduction of new or revised standard products into manufacturing range and ensuring that designs are compatible with the latest design standards.
Participate and actively support company initiatives, Energy ORE, Energy and GT Initiatives.
Familiar with the environmental aspects and impacts of the activities and processes involved in the role and the procedures, practices and measures to manage the impact.
Familiar with the risks and hazards within the activities and processes of the role and procedures, practices and measures in place to mitigate the risks.
Complete a monthly MIS (Management Information System) ORE report and issue to Energy ORE Head.
Instrumental in the development of the team through training and competence development.
Promotes teamwork within the group and other areas of the organization.
Promotes and maintains an image of technical excellence and high integrity both with internal and external customers.
Supports and participates in the company EHS Management System, thereby following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
Active participation in weekly Order Progress Review meetings or Critical Orders Meetings.
Active participation as part of the LE Management Team and support to LE Head (General Manager) as appropriate. All other duties as relevant to the post.
Degree/HNC/Equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
At least 8 years relevant experience within related industry
Experience of managing large and complex departments
Mechanical or Hydraulic Design experience
