Senior Analyst – Insurance – Financial Services Industry
Overview of the team and job profile:
The Center for Financial Services is one of the industry teams within the Research & Insights (R&I) group. The center's goals are to:
Assess the opportunities and challenges facing banks, insurance carriers, private equity firms, hedge funds, mutual funds, and real estate organizations operating globally
Provide actionable insights, including strategic, technical, operational, and policy-oriented relevant for a C-suite level reader profile
Bring together a range of stakeholders to address issues impacting the health of the financial services industry
Make extensive use of leading practices from financial services professionals across diverse disciplines including strategy, operations, technology, marketing, finance, risk management, regulation, and human resources, that have taken innovative steps to address critical challenges

The incumbent will contribute to the advancement and quality of the Center's research and thought leadership initiatives in the Insurance sector, which includes life & annuity (L&A) and property & casualty (P&C). These include white papers, in-depth research reports, client presentations, case studies, articles, etc., which integrate information from a wide range of primary and secondary sources such as Deloitte subject matter experts, surveys, third-party research, analyst reports, presentations, industry commentaries, and news articles.
Responsibilities:
Work with the US- and India-based Insurance Center team on projects that align with the sector research agenda
Contribute to developing insurance sector thoughtware, including:
Identifying new research topics and supporting the development of research proposals
Supporting in-depth primary and secondary research to form or support the hypotheses. This will include quantitative and qualitative data analysis, case study development, survey design and analysis, and interviewing senior executives
Utilizing credible statistical methods in validating research hypotheses and perform analyses to develop original insights
Supporting senior team members in writing research reports, case studies, viewpoints, and articles targeted at leading management, and industry publications
Developing presentations, summarizing insights and recommendations to assist senior team members for internal and external meetings
Have a basic understanding of the insurance industry or of any sub-sector, including L&A and P&C
Develop an understanding of Deloitte’s solutions, services, and offerings
Build a network within the industry team, R&I, and other allied teams in India
Requisite experience and skills
3-5 years of experience, with a basic understanding of the issues and trends in the insurance industry
Demonstrate experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods such as statistical analysis, primary research (surveys, interviews), financial analysis, secondary research, data analysis, and case study
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Understanding of:
Basic understanding of the issues facing the insurance industry
Financial management concepts, management approaches, and strategy and policy frameworks - customer strategy, financial and performance management, IT strategy
Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Competency to work with distributed and virtual teams, especially one that spans international geographies
High attention to detail, responsiveness, and strong track record of contributing to high-impact projects
Broad understanding of promoting content on key social media platforms such as —Twitter, and LinkedIn is preferred

The R&I team’s mission is to undertake research and analysis to develop compelling and forward-looking perspectives that allow clients to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to “what’s coming next.”
The team plays an integral role in strengthening the firm’s strategic positioning through end-to-end development of high-quality thoughtware published on Deloitte.com and Deloitte Insights webpages. Their work includes:
Managing relations with internal stakeholders
Using advanced data science and survey advisory capabilities to strengthen the credibility of insights
Leveraging editorial and visualization capabilities to improve the stickiness of firm thoughtware
Qualifications, experience, work location, and timing
Academic qualification: Master’s Degree like MBA/CFA
Work experience: 3-5 years
Location: Mumbai
Work hours: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM (expected to stretch during busy periods)
