We are looking for seasoned professional with relevant experience in a similar leadership role, including proven success and the ability to lead/coach a team, define/implement new business processes and practices, Strong advocate of Agile model, ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, innovative Cusotmer driven Product development environment.
You will be reporting to CTO and would be responsible for delivery of projects in areas of Native applications on Salesforce, Development & Extension of Highly scalable and available messaging platform, Highly Scalable AI & Analytics driven SAAS Application & Mobile Applications. You will be leading team of 50+ technical team consisting of bright engineers and Leaders/Managers from Top Engineering Institutes of India like IITs.
You will be assigned the role of taking major technology as well budget decisions in consultation with CTO, Architects, Team Managers/leaders and Product Managers keeping in mind the business goals. You would need to keep Product & Key Stakeholders apprised of plans, challenges & Initiatives in engineering execution. You will need to support Customer facing teams such as Customer Support & Sales team wherever they need technical help in Sales process.
This is primarily a managerial role but expects the good problem-solving skill sets and years of experience in hands-on programming. You are expected to take lead in resolving complex technical problems. You need to stay upto date with current with latest tools, technology ideas and methodologies; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas to key decision makers.
Details Of The Job :
Product Development/Engineering Roadmap :-
Being a aspiring & High-growth product company, You need to collaborate with product/business team to elicit and understand their requirements/ challenges. You will need to work with team to create the technical roadmap and Work closely with peers and Product Managers to chalk out the detail project plans taking into account various risks and opportunities with milestones and timelines. Keep development team and management updated about changes in plans. Your project plans should be in sync with Product roadmaps. You need to track and review projects at regular intervals to make sure that risks are detected and mitigated. Various new initiatives & ideas are expected from you to achieve establishing the best engineering department.
Agile Development Model
Work with technology teams to execute the project plans using agile methodologies. Making sure that execution is following standard best practices. You need to closely work with team leaders to make sure that various milestones are being achieved. YOu should Provide technical direction and mentorship to the Sales Force, Platform, System and Quality Teams as well as hands-on project management. Being agile doesn’t mean following certain methods, its more than that, you need to be data driven with your plans to change development models as per need of business.
Infrastructure & DevOps Management
SMS Magic platform is hosted on AWS platform. We are committed to delivery 99.9999% uptime to our customers. You need to make sure to setup right team directly or indirectly working with us to take care of availability. You need to lead in setting up a proper DevOps team internal/external to make sure that our platform is capable of serving peak loads and is highly available. You need to work with the team to make sure that CI/CD model is implemented in the systems.
You need to align with existing development practices and improve/change to get the high quality output from the development teams. You will need to keep team sensitized about Customer impact of various development activities. You need to ensure strong QA practices are followed for delivery of High quality product as per Planned Timelines.
Our aim is to build a dedicated and highly skilled team which delivers high-quality products. Our intention is to acquire/hire/retain quality resources. We want to train/groom employees into future leaders in which technology or areas they are working. You need to own this process and contribute by planning & Organizing various trainings.
You need to formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the complete engineering team. Work with HR teams to attract, recruit and retain top talent. Motivate team members and grow them in the organization. Define career goals and do performance evaluation for the team on regular intervals.
This is one of the core aspect of the job, As you are leading various engineering projects, you need to plan the budgets on behalf of engineering function considering current & future requirements of company. You need to work with finance team to execute the planned budgets in a timely manner.
You should be an advocate of dev best practices and work with team closely to establish the action plans to get the best practices in action. You should be active in evaluating and comparing alternate technologies and solutions if needed with no error and compromise on quality check and deliverables. You should Coach and mentor Software, platform, system and quality team on design, development best practices & processes.
It's expected that you have good knowledge of information security concerning our platform. You are expected to work with various agencies/consultant to plan and execute regular external security audits and keep our platform up to date on data security standards.

Good knowledge of Software Engineering best practices including data structures, algorithms, design patterns
Good Knowledge of either of Java, Python and experience in developing Web-based API-platforms (JS frameworks like angular), Git & SVN, JIRA, System/Infra/scripting skills.
Should be Programming Language agnostic.
Knowledge of Salesforce - Apex/Lightning is the plus.
Databases: Good knowledge of MySQL, No-SQL like Mongo DB and In-memory databases like Redis. Should have experience in building Queue based platforms.
AWS platform knowledge, Hands-on experience in Docker/k8s will be appreciated.
Knowledge of RabbitMQ, Kafka, BigData technologies
15-20 years’ experience in SAAS Product/E-com / IT Service industry with the last role being VP or Director role
Experience of working with CTO, CEO and executive teams is Must.
Have experience of working in Fast paced work environment and managing multigeography
Knows SAAS business fundamentals
Have built & Managed team of 50+ developers & QA and someone whi has scaled up team from 50 to 200 within budgets.
Have experience of working with FTE, Consultants/Contractors/vendors
Have experience of building & managing distributed teams (open to travel to manage multi-location teams)
Strong understanding of Web Based Platform related products and technology.
B Tech/M Tech from a reputed institute from Computer Science background
