Founded in 2012, Central Square Foundation (CSF) is a non-profit philanthropic foundation
working on the vision of ensuring quality school education for all children in India. We are
driven by our mission to transform the school education system with a focus on improving
learning outcomes of children, especially from low-income communities.
We believe that ensuring Universal, Early, Conceptual and Procedural Mastery of
Foundational Skills is absolutely essential for the overall success of education system. In
order to achieve this, we partner with individuals and social impact organizations to bring
innovative solutions in education, as well as work with the government to drive systemic
impact. We collaborate with the ecosystem to leverage knowledge, build evidence and create
proven tools around critical issues such as early learning, EdTech, classroom instruction
methods and governance.
We also support exceptional social entrepreneurs with powerful ideas, undertake
application-oriented research, provide a platform for sharing of innovation, and collaborate
with other stakeholders in the ecosystem to find policy solutions - all towards enabling
sustained change in India’s educational system.

We are a young organization with a dynamic entrepreneurial environment, dedicated to
achieving significant and sustained reforms in the Indian education system.
We are stoked by the phenomenal rise in smartphone and mobile internet penetration in
India and have been exploring ways to drive adoption and usage of EdTech solutions for
foundational learning of 3-8-year-old children in low-income communities.
To achieve this, we have curated a portfolio of EdTech solutions- we are supporting Chimple,
to create a smartphone app to teach foundational literacy and numeracy in Hindi and other
regional languages, contextualized KitKit School Math, currently being called Math Masti, and
have partnered with Google for a voice-based literacy app they have developed, called Read
Along. To ensure large scale adoption and engagement of solutions in this curated portfolio,
we have also developed a parent facing platform called Top Parent which increases
awareness, enables discovery and nudges engagement for the product portfolio. We also
work closely with various state governments to identify intervention areas for
implementation of various EdTech solutions best suited to improve learning outcomes.
Generating credible evidence regarding efficacy of EdTech solutions in improving learning
outcomes for children in low-income communities is the third important focus area in this
The selected candidate would be expected to:
- Use CSF’s tools of grant making, government engagement, research and ecosystem
to develop a nuanced perspective of key gaps and hypotheses in each of the focus
areas, and identify and scale solutions that address these gaps.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage our growing product portfolio.
Build and lead government partnerships and working with governments at different
Provide support in conceptualizing and implementing quality interventions
Develop and implement a strategy to create better demand for EdTech in and
outside school environment
Support building the vision and implementation of EdTech in schools
through project management, knowledge sharing and policy changes
Work on the existing product portfolio organizations to;
Support with product iteration and distribution. This includes analysis of
usage data from partners, collecting usage feedback and developing product
improvement roadmaps to improve adoption.
Provide ongoing technical and strategic support
Expand the existing EdTech portfolio by incubating and/or funding
organizations working on innovative solutions
Work closely with content, pedagogical and technical advisors to advise new
product partners on contextualization requirements for target audience and
to develop low-cost EdTech products/content libraries
Develop key hypotheses based on current and future trends in EdTech
Conduct policy research in the education technology and develop papers for
Identify and build partnership with non-profits, social entrepreneurs, technology
companies with expertise and capabilities in building and scaling EdTech
Promote coordination and cumulative learning among nonprofits demonstrating
best practices in specific areas of education
Ensure regular documentation and communication to both internal audience (CSF)
and external audiences (partners)
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's or equivalent degree required
7 to 11 years of relevant work experience
Strong written & verbal communication skills and presentation skills
Excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
Data analysis and presentation
Master's or equivalent degree
Entrepreneurial spirit and ‘can-do’ attitude
Passionate about leveraging technology for supporting education delivery in
Product thinker, with at least 2 years of product experience, across product
management, product analytics
Experience of having worked with government systems in procurement and
Operating style suited to working in a small-organization setting, where teamwork
and resourcefulness are highly valued
Excellent leadership skills, including ability to manage multiple projects at a time
Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy pay scales and will depend
upon the candidate’s experience levels.
