The Equity Data Management (EDM) organization is responsible for providing data content and services for MSCI tools that fuels investment decisions. Our services focus on working with index and analytics teams on the production and development of input data used for product generation. In addition, we provide support to our sales team, consultants and client relations teams with client inquiries on content.
The Financial Data Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality for a diverse data set of attributes. The analyst will play a key role in projects supporting EDM initiatives to re-build and enhance many of the core data content systems. These projects are intended to position MSCI for successful integration and propel future growth.
The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in the financial markets as well as details of financial instruments. The candidate needs to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with emphasis on quality and accuracy. The candidate must be a self-starter who is proactive and assertive.
Quality assurance of equity market data
Monitor workflow processes and resolve issues with urgency as they arise
Identify, investigate and resolve data discrepancies and ensure they do not recur
Variance analysis of data attributes with various vendor sources
Research corporate events and assets as it pertains to MSCI methodology
Update and conduct extensive quality assurance to our financial database
Work in partnership with local and global teams to enhance and improve client experience
Participate in testing and validation on new enhancements and developments
Support and contribute to initiatives that improve daily production and operations processes
Desired experience and qualifications
Good understanding of financial markets, financial instrument, index data and providers
Breadth and depth of different asset classes and the data attributes associated with each
Excellent English verbal and written (additional language skills a plus)
Ability to communicate and work effectively in a result oriented, team-driven organization
Commitment to improving the business and customer experience
Ability to work flexible and occasionally extended hours
Strong Microsoft Office skills a must
Working knowledge of databases, SQL,Python,SAS, VBA,Linux /UNIX a plus
Knowledge of market data vendors (i.e. FTSE, Russell, Dow Jones, S&P, Bridge,Reuters, Bloomberg) a plus
1+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated interest in data analysis and/or data research
Experience working in a global environment and with global teams
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or equivalent
