To review the medical records of outpatients, admitted patients, emergency patients, and diseased patients to ensure that they include all important documents and pertinent information
To support the HOD in the working of the department for maintaining quality records.
To manage the department in the absence of the HOD.
To cooperate with the medical, nursing, and other staff persons in completing patient medical records.
To prepare and maintain medical reports, medical certificates, birth and death register and to notify concerned authorities any suggestions for improvements.
To prepare monthly statistical reports concerning the hospital activities carried out, and to submit to concerned authorities and suggestion for improvements.
To observe professional ethics and to protect the confidentiality of information from unauthorized persons; to keep medico legal records under safe custody and to attend court whenever required.
To select appropriate personnel for the Medical Record Department and train them for performing their jobs efficiently.
To supply patient files in accordance with the established procedures for medical care, medical education, medical training, and medical care evaluation management, and legal purposes.
To maintain and protect medical records in accordance with the policies relating to preservation and destruction.
To participate in educational programs such as seminars, workshops, and conferences related to the medical record profession.
To carry out any other duties and functions related to medical record services as instructed by the HOD.
To update the ICD coding knowledge of the medical record technicians, and update the filing, retrieval, search the misfile knowledge to the department Attenders through the training.
To be aware of departments performance and objective.
To adhere to the safety norms of hospital, follow both patient, and staff safety rules.
To coordinate departmental training activities
To monitor regulatory compliance by the department including birth and death reporting and reporting of communicable diseases.
