Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kolkata is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the
position of Commercial Clerk/Chauffeur in the Foreign Commercial Services (FCS) Section.

The work schedule for this position: Full Time; 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4
weeks – 12 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their
candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No


Provides administrative and clerical support for a variety of commercial-related activities.
Supports a staff of 5, including Commercial Officer and four LE staff. Responds to in-person,
phone, and email inquiries for the FCS Kolkata office. Under supervision and guidance of
Commercial Service officers and senior FSN staff, makes appointments, prepares schedules,
maintains contact lists, maintains files, finalizes reports and other office documents, answers
phone and directs inquiries to appropriate staff, monitors emails on the unclassified system and
directs messages to appropriate staff, greets/escorts office visitors, and assists at trade events.
The Incumbent will also act as a back up to the Commercial Assistant & Commercial Clerk, under
the supervision of the Commercial Officer/Commercial Specialist Officer/Commercial Specialist.
Operates a passenger motor vehicle in accordance with USG guidelines to transport Minister
Counselor, Commercial Counselor and other official VIP visitors, Principal Commercial Officer and
LE staff members, and occasionally officers of an associated agency within the city and
surrounding areas.

Qualifications and Evaluation

Completion of Class 10.

At least four years of chauffeur driving light vehicles. Must have good working knowledge of

Kolkata roads and its vicinity. Exposure to basic office work including direct mail, handling

office machines, inventory work, and telephone coverage. Must be familiar with computers and

email. Must be familiar working with basic MS Word and MS Excel.

English Level III (Good working knowledge) in speaking, reading and writing is required.

Hindi Level II (Limited knowledge) in speaking, reading and writing is required.

Bengali Level II (Limited knowledge) in speaking, reading and writing is required.
