Job Description
We are hiring for a Manager to work in our DER Analytics practice. As a manager, you will be working with a team of senior managers and junior staff, and leading the technical execution of long-term planning, program design, and implementation support projects. Your role will be to manage the continued development of ICF’s DER analytics and to help deliver quality answers to our clients’ planning and operational challenges. This role will also involve oversight of the development of the offerings, tools, and models that underpin the analytic aspects of ICF’s DER consultancy. As part of your role, you will also manage consulting assignments and support all levels of project staff, with increasing responsibility for project management and client contact. You will have an opportunity to apply your experience and knowledge with project management, gain exposure to major projects, and interact with experts and clients in the field, while continuing to build subject matter knowledge, people management and consulting skills.
ICF has over 50 years of experience advising utilities on a variety of areas, including integrated resource planning, distributed energy resources (DER), utility customer programs, environmental strategies, and a host of other issues. The DER Analytics team is a leader in US Utility DER space. Our ability to connect the implementation experience and deep domain expertise with advanced analytics, allows us to help utilities plan, design and implement best-in-class DER programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project teams to perform DER analyses and consulting assignments, including scheduling project milestones, drafting the deliverables, managing the budget, directing project staff and collaborating as needed across other teams.
Manage and grow client relationships, and support the business development efforts with market research and proposal development.
Work in cross-functional teams to build and improve processes
Oversee development of internal- and external-facing tools and workflows that enable the strategic decision-making process for developing and designing innovative DER program strategies and roadmaps
Establish yourself as a thought leader through external publications and presentations that showcase ICF’s technical leadership
Mentor, coach and train junior staff, build plans and work with direct reports to develop their short-term and long-term career growth in-line with business objectives
Work in cross-functional teams to build and improve processes
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Electrical Engineering, Building Science, Energy Management, Energy Policy and Planning, or related subjects
6+ years of related energy industry experience, including experience in DER technology assessment (e.g., EE, DR, solar and storage)
Experience in energy consulting - client management and business development
Strong organizational and project management skills
Preferred Skills/Experience
PhD in Engineering, Economics, Operations Research or related fields
Knowledge of US energy policy and regulation especially related to DER/DSM. Experience in regulatory and public stakeholder processes would be highly valued
Experience with energy-saving evaluation, measurement and verification methods and protocols (e.g., IPMVP); and related financial analysis tools
Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing large, complex projects and multidisciplinary teams
