Global Trade and Receivables Finance
Global Trade and Receivables Finance comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia.
The job holder is expected to manage, develop and enhance the suite of import products to meet the trade and supply chain needs of the Bank’s GBM and CMB clients with a view to maximize our imports revenues while managing the underlying risks. The job holder will contribute towards formulation of and be responsible for execution of the business and product development strategy with the primary objective of making (and retaining) HSBC as the No. 1 trade and supply chain bank in the world.
In addition they will product manage and commercialize the imports product portfolio on a global/local basis using the Product Life Cycle (PLC) methodology.
This profile is a generic template and the job holder would be working in one the global product verticals - Core Trade / Receivables Finance / Guarantees / Structured Solutions / Product Governance and undertaking the above product management activities within these verticals.
Produce detailed analysis of financials (revenues and expenses) at a market, client and sub-product level – this would provide inputs for suitable strategy development.
Conduct formal business reviews that tie financial results back to strategic business initiatives, engaging sites to understand reasons for the trends and formulate action plans.
Analyse trends and economic market conditions.
Conduct annual pricing reviews to ensure that products are priced according to market conditions and there are appropriate returns achieved
Project manage GTRF new products/enhancements/variants and other product related initiatives through the use of strict project management methodology and processes.
Preparing the competitive landscape and undertaking product benchmarking
Conduct suitable strategy development, finalization and implementation of initiatives to:
Maintain and extend outright market leadership
Build product line extensions to extend the product life cycle
Adapt product capabilities to expand usability into new markets
Create linkages with other products or services to provide a more comprehensive solution to the client
Develop new market or product strategies
Develop value propositions that are compelling and commercially viable and fit into overall strategic objectives
Develop suitable business cases to justify strategic initiatives and secure approvals on such business cases.
Detail business requirements that will be used for developing functional specifications and product features (system / non-system based)
Adhere to the Product Life Cycle methodology while managing existing products and new developments / variants.
Develop comprehensive product rollout strategy (product profiles) which should include:
Product positioning (how to sell in target markets)
Marketing collateral & Communications (launch & ongoing)
Set up implementation plans & guides
Review complex, high-value and non-standard deals and deals requiring senior management approvals (e-GBAC).
Secure approvals from all key stakeholders including credit, legal, compliance, tax, operations and technology.
Deliver customer presentations and preparation of sales proposals
Manage the creation of related sales collateral, brochures and new product release information
Champion HSBC’s trade and structured open account products and services by playing a senior role in industry and client events, including speaking opportunities, panel discussions, etc.
Ensure product awareness training for sales, lending, service and other personnel.
Work with and lead colleagues to put in place an engagement model to respond to complex deals and RFPs in a timely fashion.
Source product and solution feedback based on the market and customer inputs.
Ensure frontline staff are clear on which solution is most fit for purpose
Socialise the product and solution with the right local teams
Ensure Operations and relavant colleagues are briefed in regards to new products / solutions
Educate sales and product specialists about the product: how it fits into the overall strategy and how it should be positioned in the market
Train customer service and implementation officers for set-up and implementation
Leadership & Teamwork
Share knowledge, experience and best practices with junior colleagues within and outside of immediate team and promote a collective culture to spread experience & best practice.
