Harvard Business School Publishing India Private Limited (HBSPIPL) was incorporated on September 29, 2008. The Company was formed with an objective of providing sales and marketing support services to Harvard Business School Publishing Corporation, USA. The Company also started sales, marketing and publicity of books published by Harvard Business Press from July 2009.
HBR Ascend is a global, digital-first learning companion for graduating students and young professionals.
Traditionally, HBR’s core offering (print magazine and website) has been read by CXOs and Aspiring Leaders who occupy the top of the organizational pyramid. Young Managers and Individual Contributors were not fully engaging with HBR even though we have content which is relevant for their development needs.
HBR Ascend is targeted at young managers with 0-7 years of experience and not very well versed in soft skills such as small group leadership, inter-personal skills, or cross-cultural tasks. A secondary audience also exists and comprises of 20-25-year-old students in B-Schools and other graduate programs who wish to be employment ready.
Given the comfort that this audience has with connected devices and their need to access content anytime, anywhere, HBR Ascend focuses on mobile devices as the primary delivery platform. We are looking for an assistant editor to help us further out content efforts for this target market.
HBP India is looking to hire an Associate Editor to join the editorial team HBR Ascend targeted at graduating students and young professionals. The Associate Editor will generate write, edit and publish compelling, evergreen, management content in the soft skills space. He/she will work with the Senior Editor for this product and the product leadership team in India to help curate and contextualize content with more impact and reach. The Associate Editor will also work towards developing an in-depth understanding of this audiences’ content needs and use these inputs to develop the right content mix for its users, including different content formats, testing the voice of the product, working on new content formats and sub brands. The Associate Editor will also manage the content production aspects including managing the content management system and the publishing queue.
Work with the product manager, marketing manager, and senior editor to share HBR Ascend content more effectively across platforms and social channels.
Develop an understanding of the young manager audiences’ content needs and topics of relevance.
Contribute content and social media campaign ideas and suggest new formats to test on the young manager audience.
Help curate content relevant for young managers from the global website (HBR.org) and archives.
Manage the publishing queue and the content management system to ensure frequent and timely upload of identified content.
Commission new stories and work with the contributors from ideation to publishing.
Support Senior Editor in editing, contextualizing, and creating compelling digital content across formats such as text, audio, video, infographics, and assessments.
Skills and Experience:
Wide-ranging, creative intellect and sharp editorial instincts
Excellent reporting, writing, and headline-writing skills
Ability to spot, quickly shape, and reliably line-edit a good story
Savvy understanding of social media and user engagement practices
Savvy understanding of managing social postings and Google Analytics.
