We are operating in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai locations.
The Financial Institutions Group is part of the Corporate and Investment Banking division of Wells Fargo Bank's Wholesale business. The FIG –Portfolio Management and Underwriting Unit supports Wells Fargo Bank in taking the right exposure on other banks/Financial institutions, by underwriting the credit of Financial Institutions across the Globe.
About the Role:
FIG Credit Analyst evaluates banks and other financial institutions in different regions like Asia and the Indian sub-continent, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East based upon standard and documented underwriting criteria as per Corporate and FIG Credit Policies.
The end-product of the underwriting activity is a timely and thorough review of the financial institution, with appropriate internal risk ratings assigned to the counterparty and acceptable justification of those ratings.
Individual at this level are expected to follow established guidelines in performing credit analysis work and use some independence of thought but to refer to more complex problems to supervisors or other experts. Primary duties include:
Timely and accurate credit reports of banks and other financial institutions including Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) in assigned geographic markets.
This includes extensive financial statement analysis of individual institutions and comparison to other peer institutions within the same country
In addition to the financial review, the analysis should incorporate current news on relevant topics or/and events related to the counterparty, its industry and country.
As part of the analysis, an accurate risk rating (including any changes from current rating) must be assigned to the institution, with adequate justification contained within the analysis to support the assigned rating.
Maintain credit files for assigned accounts.
May assist in internal and external exams by preparing the necessary credit folders for the exam. This will be done under direct supervision of the Portfolio Manager
Market Skills and Certifications
The candidate will typically be an MBA (Finance/Banking), Chartered /Cost and Management Accountant/Post Graduate in economics having 3-5 years of corporate credit underwriting /1-2 years of bank underwriting experience, having worked in the credit department of whole sale banks /credit rating agencies
In addition, it is desirable that the candidate have basic familiarity with credit reports from Rating Agencies and bank Credit Analysis such as Fitch Ratings, S&P and Moody's.
Familiarity with various reports from or websites maintained by Central Banks and Banking and Supervisory Agencies in countries in assigned geographic markets.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience of 1-2 years of Financial Institutions credit analysis, however, strong knowledge of corporate credit analysis will be considered equal pre-qualification to apply.
Must have effective financial analysis research and note writing skills, with a strong command of English.
Must be adept at using electronic spreadsheets and word processing, with reasonable command over advanced excel functionalities such as VLook up, Pivot tables etc.
Should hold a degree in MBA (Finance/Banking), Chartered /Cost and Management Accountancy/Post Graduation in economics or equivalent. Recommended course work includes: business finance, macroeconomics, financial markets, financial accounting, statistics, and computer science.
Adept at advanced excel functionalities and working with voluminous data points in excel.
