As part of this growth, we are expanding the IT/Vender Platform team within our organization with a Systems/Application Engineer 2. Alliance Data partners with over 145 brands to deliver best-in-class credit loyalty programs. As a member of the Alliance Data Card Services Vendor Platforms team, individuals will be hands-on in the planning, design, testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of the distributed systems and applications they support. System Administrators / Engineers are empowered professionals and will be the go-to subject matter expert for opportunities and direction. The ability to utilize existing life cycle methodologies to achieve an overall successful project implementation from start to finish is rewarding. Having involvement in all levels of projects as well as in all levels of the application layers is a distinctive advantage.

This role will be responsible for building relationships with your peers, business users, and internal/external clients. The Systems/Application Engineer, 2 will drive and influence future business opportunities for supported systems, provide technical support during normal business hours for listed applications, and provide on-call technical support for applications and systems. To be successful in this role, it is expected that perform daily, weekly, and monthly security and functional audits on supported systems. You will be asked to work directly with vendors on installations, support issues and Deliver error free, well tested code according to department standards. The Systems/Application Engineer, 2 will also design detailed specifications for efficient programming according to department standards, participate in coding walk-throughs for peers ensuring department standards are adhered to, and maintain systems documentation. This position will deliver excellence in all aspects of the role as a model associate.

Education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are minimal in this role are as follows:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems

Minimum of 2 years of experience in implementing and troubleshooting distributed systems required

Experience and ability to administer and support MS Windows, Linux, & Unix server environments

Basic understanding of Directory Services such as Active Directory and Open LDAP

Knowledge of relational databases/data layer required; Experience with MSSQL

T-SQL writing experience for reporting and troubleshooting

Experience with PC based tools and products including but not limited to MS Office suite

Experience with system administration and process automation through the use of scripting technologies such as but not limited to KSH, BASH, PERL, Windows Script Host utilizing VBScript and WMI

Computer network fundamentals (IP/ SIP / VOIP)

Understanding of network proxies, TLS, and general packet transport is a plus

Analytical skills for problem solving and ability to think creatively for solutions/ideas

Experience estimating system capacities and traffic engineering

Excellent communication and presentation skills required

Ability to organize tasks and react to shifting priorities required

Ability to identify, recommend and resolve solutions to problems is required

Knowledge of JCL and COBOL programming languages is a plus

Care center experience desired
