Purpose of the Job (overall high level summary of the job)

Provide global development environment support for CMB HSBCnet. As a part of Application Services the responsibilities will include:

  • Development environment set-up, provision end-to-end infrastructure & support
  • Code deployment, execute code branching, build & deploy for shared front-end components
  • Support transformation and ever greening projects as environment specialist
  • Environment stability, conduct proactive health tests and resolve environmental defects
  • Production implementation, package and transition to production
  • Communicating with various Testing & IT teams.
  • Flexible to work in shifts and provide on-call support.
  • Working as a part of a global team.

Perform troubleshooting of development environment incidents by providing temporary workaround or permanent solution within SLA.

Minimize the adverse impact on testing and development operations.

Ensure tickets are being handled correctly and timely .

Perform root cause analysis and identify optimal solutions to repetitive issues

Perform daily code deployment to the development and testing environments and ensure minimum impact to system availability.

Perform ad hoc deployment requests and ensure minimum impact to system availability.

Perform daily configuration requests and ensure they conforms to best practices

Perform development/testing environments set-up and configuration.

Perform Major and Minor release implementation.

Pre-production rehearsal.

Ensure all support related standards, documentation and procedures are followed.

1. Sharing knowledge on lessons learnt and best practices with team.

2. Supporting peers in times of need.

  • Supporting complex global development systems ensuring the stability of the HSBCnet development and testing environments.

  • Providing cost-effective solutions for development environment issues, and implementing them without any defects or kick-backs.
The job tests the associate’s ability in the following major areas:

Context of the Job (The environment and operating conditions of the job including the extent of guidance and authority)

The HSBCnet Global Development Support team operate on 24x5 model providing round-the-clock support for all environment issues from Monday to Friday. Team also provide support services for weekends on request basis.

The jobholder located in GLT will be responsible to perform various environment support assignments depending on needs. Key function of the role is to support ever greening projects for HSBCnet from environment team. The jobholder needs to understand and work on complex and critical systems, should have good technical understanding, should be able to learn fast and retain the learning, and should possess good problem-solving skills.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering or Technology, Post graduate diploma in computer applications,

Master in computer applications, Master’s in Engineering or Technology.

Excellent problem solving and root-cause investigation skills are essential.

Excellent written and oral communications skills in English language are essential. E.g.: Report Writing, ability to document training materials etc.

Knowledge of Banking Payment Systems and/or Banking Domain is preferable.

Knowledge of Payment & Cash Management systems and Gateways like SWIFT is preferable.

Familiarity with Incident / Problem / Change and Release Management procedures is preferable.

Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure

Ability to work as part of a Global virtual team across multiple regions.

Technical skills (WAS, JAVA)

  • Must have experience in WAS 7/ 85 administration/support
  • Experience in environment monitoring and Healthchecks
  • Good knowledge of Unix/Linux ( RHEL 5+)
  • Proficiency in Automation tools for deployments, log/event management
