POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Software Manager, you will be responsible of a development team in charge of development and enhancement of a NCR’s Retail Self-Checkout Software Solution for Food and other markets, for current and new customers that we have around the world.
This solution is being jointly developed with the help of several other internal and external software development groups both in India, US, and abroad. The incumbent will be required to quickly gain expertise in various vendors’ system software and Self-Checkout technologies. The ability to work effectively in a team environment composed of peers and cross-functional members is very important as is the ability to be focused and a self-starter. Project size and work varies considerably in a range of technologies and environments from legacy integration to up-to-the minute software development with the latest tools and technologies. Ability to learn new technologies, new processes, new customer environments and adapt to new challenges quickly is critical. Local and International travel may also be required.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage a team of 15+ software developers against defined requirements and schedules to produce high quality deliverables in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Retain and recruit key talent to augment the software development organization.
Provide effective mentoring and management of team such that individual contributors have the opportunity and encouragement to grow in their respective careers.
Perform yearly and quarterly performance management activities.
Participate in the definition and implementation of effective processes and procedures.
Manage the team to a defined budget and provide forecasting for future spending.
Participate to technical calls with internal and external teams (including customers).
Work very closely with the other Self-Checkout Managers when needed and appropriate.
Communicate effectively to appropriate levels of the organization to provide transparency and accountability for initiatives and their progress.
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
Experience in leading/managing software development team
Experience in leading/managing software project
8+ years of software development experience along with a minimum of 3+years in Software Project Management and managing 8-15 member teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
Experience in the Retail Industry or with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
Experience with worldwide environment covering remote development and product teams (USA or others).
Experience developing software in an Agile environment
Managing Mobile projects
Understanding Databases, Networking, Mobility, Continous Integration
Technical Degree in Computing
Process improvement (Six Sigma)
Managing customer expectations
Managing multiple Project Managers and/or Project leads
