Harvard Business School Publishing India Private Limited (HBSPIPL) was incorporated on September 29, 2008. The Company was formed with an objective of providing sales and marketing support services to Harvard Business School Publishing Corporation, USA. The Company also started sales, marketing and publicity of books published by Harvard Business Press from July 2009.
HBR Ascend is a global, digital-first learning companion for graduating students and young professionals.
HBR Ascend is targeted at young managers with 0-7 years of experience and not very well versed in soft skills such as small group leadership, inter-personal skills, or cross-cultural tasks. A secondary audience also exists and comprises of 20-25-year-old students in B-Schools and other graduate programs who wish to be employment ready.
Given the comfort that this audience has with connected devices and their need to access content anytime, anywhere, HBR Ascend focuses on mobile devices as the primary delivery platform. We are looking for an assistant editor to help us further out content efforts for this target market.
Assistant Editor overview
HBP India is looking to hire an Assistant Editor to join the editorial team HBR Ascend targeted at graduating students and young professionals. The Assistant Editor will work with the Senior Editor for this product and the product leadership team in India to help curate, contextualize and develop content with more impact and reach. The Assistant Editor will also work towards developing an in-depth understanding of this audiences’ content needs and use these inputs to develop the right content mix for its users. The assistant editor will also manage the content production aspects including managing the content management system and the publishing queue.
Own the publishing queue and ensure timely upload of identified content on the content management system.
Collaborating with the team to research, plan, and execute new articles, videos, infographics, etc.
Keep a track of trends, latest developments, new research and ideas relevant to our audience.
Develop ideas based on analytics and an understanding of the audiences’ content needs.
Develop new content formats and innovative ways of delivering content to our mobile audience.
Assessing submissions and making recommendations for publishing. Edit, proofread, and check articles for accuracy.
Work on strengthening our SEO initiatives.
Writing your own articles.
Skills and Experience
Wide-ranging, creative intellect and sharp editorial instincts.
Excellent reporting, writing, and headline-writing skills. Ability to spot, quickly shape, and reliably line-edit a good story.
Savvy understanding of google analytics.
Understanding of content management systems and digital publishing formats and conventions.
Familiarity with SEO is a plus.
Global mindset, ability to work across cultures and time-zones.
