What We Do
Visible Alpha enhances the investment research process by extracting meaningful analyst models, and research reports through valuable partnerships with the world’s premier investment research organizations. Our deep consensus data provides financial recommendations on companies and industries at a level of granularity and timeliness and that has never before been possible.
What You'll Do
- Identify knowledge and skill gaps in existing team and recommend learning paths

Assists in planning, implementing and maintaining multiplatform production database server environment like MySQL/MongoDB/PostgreSQL
- Supports a robust security program by following best practices related to the database server environment

Maintains automation scripts written in Shell, Python or PowerShell and updates as needed for new processes

Researches new database-related technologies and can provide a spoken presentation or training session to Engineering and IT Operations team

Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendors

Performs system upgrades in collaboration with operation staff and external service providers as needed

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Ability to manage Team of L1/L2 DBA

Maintain vulnerability management and compliance initiatives

Technical/Software Skills and Experience Required:
- Professional experience with cloud environments (Baremetal/AWS/Google/Azure)

Work across Engineering and Support teams to ensure Visible Alpha meets its goals for service reliability, availability, and efficiency.

Drive architectural/technical service improvements

Ensure alignment and execution across Development, Support, and Cloud Operations

Strong knowledge and experience working in Linux/Unix environment

Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc)

Experience with centralized logging solutions (Graylog, Splunk, Elk, etc)
-
Knowledge of active monitoring (Grafana, New Relic, DataDog, Prometheus etc)

Understanding of security best practices

Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab, etc)

Experience with a modern programming language (python, Golang, node.js, Java etc)

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases

Understanding of git

Knowledge of networking principles such as firewalls, load balancing, routing and switching

Knowledge of horizontal and vertical scaling best practices
