Job Description

Key responsibilities

Be part of the business unit management team to build high performing and efficient organisation following appropriate corporate governance standards
Drive change in the business unit and the industry with the aim to optimise the end-to-end processes and information flow with special focus on commercial (marketing, sales and customer service) processes
Work closely with other departments and other Container Business brands to ensure cost and market leadership and joint achievement of the business unit and group strategic objectives
Identify and secure business to meet and exceed the revenue, volume and contribution margin targets set for the business unit
Ensure a market leading position in customer satisfaction and service delivery
Ensure the business unit have detailed, updated and accurate record of market conditions

Business development and management:

Understand the customers business, map existing supply chain and identify opportunities for optimization which Apmt could partner on resulting in clear cost saving and topline impact for customer To act as the contact for Clients and engage the organization as needed to deliver products sold to the client
Leverage understanding of local business environment to support the development of sales and marketing strategy.
Build relationships and promote inland terminal related activities with strategic business partners and potential target increased market share Customer segmentation - ensure we have the right mix/spend the right time
Improve yield and bottom line
Achieve volume budgets/targets for the region
Brand Value - differentiation and promotion

Sales Management and execution:

Establish and maintain a structured approach to securing business, e.g. through a sales pipeline, transparent pricing policy and sales tariffs
Develop and maintain intimate, yet professional, relationship with customers and decision makers of cargo movements, both in-house and 3rd party
Regularly review the competitive scenario in the local market and identify opportunities for future growth potential
Continuously review the market for new business opportunities and activities
Post sales actity > Actively engage Customer Service into the customer relationship to ensure customers know relevant contact points in case of service failures

Marketing and market information:

We are looking for

MBA in Sales and Marketing/ SCM/ General Management with minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Shipping and Logistics.

Commercial mind set & Understanding of the local market in Tuticorin/ South India
Analytical Ability & Financial mind set
Business Acumen & Strong understanding of CFS Operations
Sound Knowledge of Cochin / South Indias EXIM business
Contacts with who is who of EXIM, fluent with shipping/logistics/CFS business
Self-motivated, creative and result orientated
Good communication, negotiation and networking skills
Ability to both work with strategic/tactical issues as well as execute operational tasks
Business and financial acumen
Market insight and network
Fluency in written / verbal English and verbal in Tamil.
