The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based expert who drives the medical brand strategy for marketed and emerging products. The MSL establishes and fosters peer-level relationships with regional & national health care professionals (HCPs), influencers, and stakeholders by providing objective scientific information, engaging in balanced discussion, and exchanging insights into disease management.
In addition to advancing Clients presence and medical interests in strategic therapeutic areas, the MSL brings insight and scientific knowledge back to internal stakeholders and serves as the primary internal source of brand-related, disease area, and competitive knowledge.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:
Health Care Professionals and External Stakeholders
The MSL establishes value-driven working relationships with members of the local health care community who have regional & national influence over disease management. Through these relationships, the MSL exchanges the most up-to-date and accurate therapeutic and scientific knowledge, while advancing awareness of the disease state, therapeutic trends, and scientific research. In so doing, the MSL:
Acts within the Medical Affairs strategy which, in turn, is aligned with the corporate brand positioning.
Interacts with KOLs, targeted HCPs, professional associations, and stakeholders to communicate current and emerging clinical data with relevant therapeutic portfolios on regular basis.
Response to unsolicited requests for off-label information from HCPs in the field.
Delivers scientifically focused and objective educational presentations to groups of strategic importance such as groups of key hospital psychiatrists and staff (in-service presentations)
Engaging KOLs in discussions to recognize and develop knowledge in specific disease-related areas that strategically important to differentiating emerging brands
Identifying and developing relationships with new opinion leaders and stakeholders who share strategic interests.
Provide scientific support to internal stakeholders
The MSLs may work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to prepare for and conduct strategic pre-launch/launch/post-launch activities that serve to establish the therapeutic imperative and clinical value of emerging brands. The MSL will build a strong scientific foundation for the zonal brand strategy by
Supporting sales team with KOL related engagements including but not limited to speaker briefing, article support etc.,
Provide scientific training when needed in the field to further develop competencies of Client sales force in their respective zone.
REQUIREMENTS & ATTRIBUTES:
Master in pharmacy from reputed institution/university with 1 2 years work experience
Previous scientific expertise in CNS area, i.e neuroscience or psychiatry will be preferred
Ability to integrate complex scientific concepts in the context of the therapeutic environment
Excellent communication and speaker abilities and should be fluent in spoken english
Passionate & extrovert personality who is willing to travel frequently, including weekends
