Job Description
The Head of Product Strategy (specific job title varies based on the operating company) is a key member of the leadership team, and will have three strategic responsibilities:

He or she will lead the technical, market, and “fit” assessment of every product we see in acquisition diligence.
He or she will establish and communicate a vision for each product we acquire that energizes the installed base of acquired customers and that can be delivered within the capability set of our centralized technical product management and Engineering functions.
He or she will establish and drive a quarterly allocation of Engineering investment across our portfolio of products that will advance us to achieve the visions in the most cost effective manner possible.

Goals in the role will include:

Revenue retention and growth of existing products, including bringing to market more valuable product editions to upsell to the install base and compel net-new customer acquisition

Driving even more significant growth with a smaller set of strategic customers or distributors by defining and selling entirely new solutions and customer-driven innovations to achieve $50M+ / year customer focused value propositions

The Head of Product Strategy will operate as a leader within one of the ESW Capital companies and as part of an ecosystem with 100+ very different existing enterprise/SMB software products with the opportunity to deep dive on 10s of potential new ones each year. When you and your business leadership team identify a game-changing growth opportunity for one of our existing solutions, the Head of Product Strategy will also have access to define new vectors of R&D through a separate, world-class innovation function staffed each year by 25-30 of the top 100 computer science graduates from India.

To ensure you can best assess your fit for this role, it is important for you to note the unique scope of responsibilities:

Given the breadth of offerings and appetite to acquire products in many different technical and market arenas, a candidate must be deeply technical and able to quickly pick up new technologies and problem domains -- he or she cannot be a single category/domain leader or have learned software through roles in marketing and project management.

As product roadmaps align primarily to sustaining innovations that drive customer retention, the role offers the opportunity to focus on continually renovating the architectural core of the product to achieve a world-class foundation for innovation and installed based growth.

All operating companies are aggressive consumers of ESW Capital group centralized services and therefore a candidate must manage well through others rather than only through direct control. He or she must be able to guide and create clear and specific roadmaps that can be delivered by a highly efficient, but low context factory for software development.

Compensation & Location
Compensation is $200/hour for 40 productive hours/week
A Head of Product Strategy may be located anywhere in the world as Crossover provides ESW Capital companies with a unique, work-from-anywhere approach.

Desired Experience
The perfect candidate for this role will be a deep technologist by academic and early professional experience who has developed into a sales savvy enterprise or SMB software business leader. The person can have start-up or big company background so long as he or she has extensive experience working with customers. Additionally, the person should:

Strong Technologist: Be a strong technologist that has remained up to date with recent trends and technologies, able to debate key technical and architectural issues with “the experts”

No, Really, a Strong Technologist: Underlying CS or similar technical background with early career experience as a developer; Candidates who passed a Microsoft or Google tech bar as a Software Engineer hire would hit the bar for this role

Enterprise-Caliber Leader: Have 10+ years in a medium to large sized software company in a leadership role with regular interaction with C-Suite executives.

Effective Evangelist: Have demonstrated history of leading solution visioning/evangelism in sales for $3-5M+ annual subscription transactions into Global 500 corporations or large scale SMB distributions

Fast-Twitch Analyst: Be capable of assessing new software products by quickly identifying their 2-3 points of meaningful technical differentiation and 2-3 areas of material weakness

Broad Expertise: Manage a multi-product portfolio of software products rather than a single product

Metric and Value Driven: Have experience defining product roadmaps with demonstrable metrics showing how these roadmaps increase important business metrics

Cloud-Savvy: Have extensive experience with and strong understanding of how to best leverage AWS
