Candidate will provide day to day management of all systems managers, engineers and administrators supporting Virtelas systems Infrastructure.
Manage various infrastructure transformation projects, both new deployments and maintenance activities, to participate in the planning and business requirements process for new systems infrastructure.
Develop, establish and drive aggressive implementation of team operational objectives according to infrastructure roadmap requirements for functionality, quality, while remaining on time.
Participate in the development of Virtelas infrastructure and application design strategy.
Provide one-on-one coaching/development to the Global System Engineering Team.
Recruit, hire and develop the needed team members with advanced technical competence.
Oversee all systems engineering and design, Dev/Ops functions, production support for all physical and virtual compute and storage environments.
Act as a visionary, team leader and work independently without requiring constant input, self-driven.
Previous experience managing large service provider class datacenters IT Infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience building highly scalable, distributed software systems.
Working knowledge of Linux operating system, using Puppet and Chef, and programming languages such as Java, Python, and Perl is highly desired.
Experience with NoSQL Databases; Cassandra, Hadoop/HBase, and MongoDB preferred
Virtualization knowledge Linux/KVM, and VMware vSphere.
Knowledge of basic LAN/WAN network concepts, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and web services
Experience with open source packages like OpenStack and CEPH DFS is a plus.
Managing development, testing and production VM and physical server environments
Automating and improving existing systems management processes
Managing capacity, designing systems architecture and performing technology refreshes
Previous experience working for an ISP, Telecom Service Provider, Managed Network Service Provider, or Datacenter Hosting company is preferred.
BE Degree , engineering or equivalent experience desirable
Prior experience managing global teams that provide 24/7 support to clients and customers
Willingness and ability to conduct meetings and field communication outside of normal working hours to accommodate teams based internationally, as needed
Ability to work effectively with clients, senior management, staff and vendors
Previous experience working with/presenting to an executive audience
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required.
