Job Description

ROLE:
The Director of Programme has a pivotal role to play in strategizing, defining, designing and implementing quality programmes around themes of healthcare, humanitarian issues, education, livelihood and disaster risk reduction.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
-Working with the team and participate in conceptualizing and designing cost effective, innovative and high quality programs to serve the most marginalized population in the country.
-Ensure that field teams in conjunction with partners generate evidence that feeds into knowledge building and advocacy.
-To work closely with Resource Mobilization team to assess funding opportunities and together have a strong pipeline of proposals.
- Periodic reviewing of programme implementation and state level organizational sustainability
-To ensure that all grants are well managed and reported, attaining their objectives and implemented within agreed budgets and time frames.
-Strengthen the organisational readiness to respond to humanitarian disasters.
-Mount appropriate and timely responses at scale to all programming initiatives including humanitarian disasters in line with established benchmarks, plans and organizational policies.
-Ensure that all staff across departments and state offices is familiar with, adhere to and implement the procedures and processes.
-Manage Program teams; define expectations, provide leadership and technical support as needed, and evaluate direct reports regularly.
-Incorporate staff development strategies and Performance Management Systems into team building process.
-Sets ambitious and challenging goals for themselves and their team, takes responsibility for their own personal development and encourages their team to do the same

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Around 20 years of experience in development work on a large scale with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrable leadership within a networked environment
Proven experience of developing strategy and being responsible for implementing it
A good understanding of effective monitoring and evaluation systems
Significant experience of working effectively with donors
Senior management responsibility in large complex operations covering the entire country.
