Business Intelligence Analyst
MIX is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst who will provide data-driven analysis and insight on what MIX produces and how it works. This person will be passionate about helping MIX gather and use data about its business, operations, products and customers to drive decision making.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will take leadership in analyzing MIXs business, including its corporate and team goals, as well as MIXs operations, products and their usage. The Business Intelligence Analyst will not just set up the metrics, models and dashboards, but will also undertake the analysis necessary to ensure that MIXs team leads can derive insight from them to take necessary action. The Business Analyst will have these primary responsibilities:
Work with functional leads to define monitoring and analysis frameworks of goals (e.g. product breakeven, operational efficiency, product usage) and contributing factors (performance)
Develop business models to analyze the sustainability and/or commercial viability of products, services and operations
Refine and develop systems and tools to capture data necessary to track goals and contributing factors (performance)
Identify and aggregate relevant existing data (e.g. generated by staff, users or financial systems)
Develop and deploy tools, such as surveys or interviews, to capture additional target data
Carry out market research
Track, aggregate, and report on performance
Analyze data in light of functional goals to provide insights to functional leads
A successful business analyst will help answer questions such as:
What content types drive a given target audience to the website?
What product features are most useful to a target audience?
What part of MIXs data collections process is the least efficient and should be refined?
What is value of expanding coverage in a new market?
What is the current target market size of a new product that MIX is seeking to launch?
The Business Intelligence Analyst will report to the COO in setting the overall goals and work plan. This role requires the Business Intelligence Analyst to work directly with each of MIXs functional leads to identify their requirements, to gather data sources and to build the tools required to analyze performance.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, International Development, or related field
Passionate about data and using it to understand a business
Fluent in data tools, such as Excel, for aggregating and analyzing data sets
Strong business, financial and analytical skills and a great problem solver
Enjoy being the technical expert who works across a variety of functional teams, from market to product and operations.
Fluency in written and spoken English
Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, using techniques such as needs assessments, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
